Visit the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale Wine Regions
Regional platter style lunch

Depart Adelaide from your city hotel and travel into the Adelaide Hills through the eastern suburbs. Enjoy the views of Adelaide as we climb the escarpment towards Crafers. Travel through the quaint villages of  Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater as we traverse Germantown Hill to drop down into the Onkaparinga Valley on our way to our first winery at O’Leary Walker Wines.

Enjoy tasting some of their Adelaide Hills and Clare Valley range of wines and learn about the historic Johnston’s Brewery buildings that O’Leary Walker Wines now calls home.

Next cut across through the rolling hills of Hahndorf, making a short stop at the Beerenberg Strawberry Farm shop before continuing past farmland and gums and through the township of Meadows to arrive in the Kuitpo forest region at K1 winery.

Be mesmerised as you enter the driveway of the K1 winery by Geoff Hardy and be met by a stunning cellar door overlooking a private lake. Enjoy the relaxing surrounds from the deck as we taste some of Geoff’s award-winning wines at what was awarded by Winestate Magazine – The Australian Winery of Year in 2012 and 2014.

Start to enjoy the views of the coast and the vineyards as the hills drop away to give you uninterrupted views of the McLaren Vale wine region.

Learn the lay of the land, the history of the coastline and hear the tales of some of the local families that have helped make McLaren Vale such an iconic and popular wine region.

Enjoy a regional platter lunch at a local winery overlooking vineyards.

After lunch indulge in a wine tasting at Angove Family Winemakers. Angove’s go back 5 generations when Dr William Thomas Angove arrived in Adelaide in 1886 and started making wine as tonic for his patients. These days Angove is one of Australia’s largest privately owned wine companies.

Throughout the course of the day enjoy visiting another 2 wineries within the regions visited. These wineries may vary from day to day but may include 2 of the following –  Wirra Wirra, Nepenthe,  Chapel Hill, Samuels Gorge, Mollydooker, Coriole, Penny’s Hill, Woodstock, just to name a few.

One of the last stops on the tour is in the main street of McLaren Vale where we can visit Robern Menz Chocolates, The Almond Train or grab a final wine taste at the cellar door of Hardys Tintara Winery.
